Inspired by the iconic One-Minute Sculptures of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm (born 1954), KIDS: One Minute Sculptures, responds to an invitation he and his young daughter shared with the general public on Instagram, on April 15, 2020, called Theory of Hope: One Minute Sculpture. He invited all people to participate in creating their own one-minute sculptures using their body and daily life objects.
KIDS: One-Minute Sculptures is an ongoing multidisciplinary art project with an arts-education agenda. The project broadens children's understanding of what the word “art” means by introducing the concepts of ephemeral and participatory art. Art becomes more than just drawing and painting—often the only modes of art-making emphasized in arts education for young people. Children feel empowered to find their unique creative voice while fostering community through shared art experiences.
