The Mother in Heaven, as a figure of spiritual mystery, hints at the line between what is known and what is felt—a blurred border-space in which we can recognize that not all things that exist are fully knowable. This project takes place within that ambiguity, mediating the distinction between photography and painting, contemporary and traditional, figure and abstraction. Here, I render the Mother in Heaven as almost visible, almost knowable, almost tangible, representing the spiritual strength that comes from softening into the unknown. The piece evokes a sense of presence over clarity, it’s substance unfolding through the viewer’s own sense of spiritual mystery—the Mother in Heaven carried within.
