Sleep Stories is a series of lithographs exploring one of the most intimate areas of family experience: sleep. This project documents and preserves the sense of presence and serenity in the experience of watching one’s children sleep, rendering the stillness that comes over a household at bedtime, when the minutiae and conflicts of the day are suspended. The series represents this experience over the course of about ten years, showing the changes to the children’s sheets, and pajamas, the different places and times of day they have slept, and how the children themselves have changed, while at the same time creating an impression of a universal emotional experience.
